Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Woodpigeon, Inc., a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Florida ("Sift," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Sift browser extension, the website at get-sift.com, and any related services (together, the "Service").

By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Please read carefully. Sift is an assistive tool, not a guarantee of safety. It will not catch every scam or every piece of misinformation, and it may occasionally flag content that is legitimate. You remain responsible for your own decisions online. Sift is not a substitute for your own judgment, caution, or professional advice.

1. What Sift is

Sift is a browser extension that aims to help users — particularly older adults — by (a) detecting common patterns associated with online scams and fraud, and (b) surfacing context about news sources, including bias and factual-accuracy assessments and links to alternative coverage. All analysis runs locally in your browser, as described in our Privacy Policy.

2. No guarantee of detection or accuracy

Scam tactics and misinformation evolve constantly. Sift relies on pattern matching and a curated dataset that is necessarily incomplete and updated periodically. You acknowledge and agree that:

You should never rely solely on Sift when making decisions about money, personal information, or online safety.

3. News source ratings are opinion

Bias and factual-accuracy ratings shown by Sift are statements of opinion. They are generated by scoring each source against a defined set of criteria — increasingly with the assistance of automated, AI-based classification — as described on our Methodology page. They are not statements of objective fact about any outlet, author, or article, and they are provided to help you seek out additional perspectives — not to tell you what to believe. Reasonable people may disagree with any given rating.

4. Not professional advice

The Service does not provide legal, financial, security, medical, or other professional advice. Nothing Sift displays should be treated as such. For decisions with meaningful consequences, consult a qualified professional.

5. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Access to Sift is offered on a paid subscription basis (currently US$1 per month). Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your full payment details. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by reverse engineering, redistributing, reselling, or tampering with the extension; using it to violate any law; or attempting to interfere with its operation or security.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, content, ratings dataset, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

9. Limitation of liability

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sift and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 8–10) will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the exclusive venue for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
